Taking Care of Yourself as You Care for Others: Sustaining Workplace Wellness

This 3-part training will address the high risk of secondary traumatic stress (STS), vicarious trauma (VT), compassion fatigue (CF), and burnout amongst people who are working in public health, human services, long term care, health care settings, community-based organizations, and people working with homeless individuals and families across the state of Wisconsin. Participants will explore their own vulnerabilities and risk factors, including the additional strain of working during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants will begin to identify and practice strategies that work for their individual needs to support sustaining high levels of wellness in the workplace. Various resources will be discussed during this interactive, experiential program. There will be opportunities for participants to develop a personal self-care plan for reducing provider distress; burnout in the moment and in the workplace; and to practice skills such as self-compassion, mindfulness, team building, and emotional regulation to build resilience over time.
